5 TIPS
FOR A SUCCESSFUL SIBOS EXPERIENCE
For the very first time, Sibos 2019 will take place in London at ExCeL between 23-26 September. For those who don’t know, it’s an annual exhibition and networking event for the Financial Services industry.
I have attended a lot of events over the years and Sibos feels different so I wanted to share some tips on how you can make the most of this four-day event.
1. Book meetings in advance.
This is absolutely essential to a successful Sibos event. It’s not like a normal trade show where you can walk around hoping to bump into people. Keep your conversations high level, and if it’s positive, book a meeting or call after the show to discuss in more detail.
Make sure you use the meet and connect directory in the login portal.
2. Brush up on the challenges the finance industry is facing.
With the finance industry changing at an unprecedented rate, financial service executives really know their stuff more than any industry I’ve worked with. You need to know it too. Don’t be left out!
My recommendation is to read a book called Banking2020 by Mark Swain. It’s a quick read and gives you a great overview of the industry today.
3. Attend the free networking events and parties in the evening.
There are loads of networking events in the evening to mingle with industry people. It’s a great way to make new contacts and learn about the industry in a more relaxed environment. Don’t forget your business cards!
Cloud Elements is hosting an invite-only, executive dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant, City Social, with our CEO Mark Geene on Tuesday, the 24th at 8 pm.

4. Learn about the opportunities in APIs and Open Banking.
This year Sibos’s theme is “thriving in a hyper-connected world” – not surprising considering open banking is now upon us. There will be a variety of speakers on all the wonderful opportunities it provides the industry. Our Chief Product Officer, Ross Garrett, will be speaking on how open banking is colliding with the API iceberg. Come and see him speak at the Discover Zone on Wednesday 25th at 3 pm.
Additionally, Cloud Elements recently released the most comprehensive breakdown of the Open Banking Industry – the 2019 State of Open Banking Report. Brush up on the latest trends, challenges, next steps, and the role of API integration. Get your copy of the report below.
5. Come and visit the Cloud Elements booth.
Cloud Elements’ unified API solution replaces file transfers with real-time integrations changing the way Banks, Financial Services and Fintechs integrate with their ecosystem.
If your organization is building an integrated Liquidity Management, Cash In/Cash Out, Payment Reconciliation, FX, or Treasury Service solution then come book a meeting with our senior executive team to learn how we work with companies like Western Union, SAP, and American Express to realize their ecosystem ambitions.
You can book a meeting with our team here or stop by our booth in the Discover Zone at 28B.
