Graduate Case Study – Luca Zoboli – PDR at Springpod
‘SaaSLeads Academy gets you out of your comfort zone.’
Luca Zoboli is a recent graduate from the SaaSLeads Academy. He’s already making his name in SaaS sales at Springpod, where he’s already booked 12 meetings. We sat down with Luca to talk about his experiences at the Academy.
Starting out
Hi Luca. Let’s start at the beginning. How did you first find out about the SaaSLeads Academy?
I saw an ad for the Academy on a job website. It looked like a good opportunity to get into the sales world – and you get put into an actual job after three months of learning.
I spoke to Brian (Brian Meta, Head of Sales at SaaSLeads) and he explained everything. After that, it was a three-stage interview process. The last step was an introduction to Springpod.
How would you describe the Academy to someone thinking about signing up?
It’s a great opportunity to get out of your comfort zone, which for me, is the most important thing in life. First, they teach you the theory of sales; then, it’s up to you to put what you have learned into action.
Laith (Laith Azzee) is the team leader. I admire him a lot. He’s really professional but also a good guy.
Skills
What were the main skills you developed at the SaaSLeads Academy?
Definitely the sales strategies – knowing what to say at what time, when to listen rather than talk, when it’s best to email and when it’s best to call.
You must have developed some personal skills that are helpful outside of sales too?
Time management. I was never good at putting in a plan for the day, but now I have to do it.
It’s the little bricks that make the house.
Highlights
What was your favourite part of the programme?
I love to be around people, so the highlight was definitely meeting the rest of the team and bonding with them. I can call them friends now.
It’s part of getting out of your comfort zone. You never know if it’s going to be a good relationship, but you just have to do it.
You must have some good stories?
It was great to finally meet the team in real life instead of on Zoom. We went bowling. It was weird at first, but not too weird as we’d all built a good rapport with each other.
Summing up
If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow in the workplace, what would it be?
I’d say let’s all finish at lunchtime on Fridays. You’ve worked hard all week; let’s have a beer, then go off for the weekend!
Finally, can you sum up your SaaSLeads Academy experience in three words?
Learning – self-development – experience.
(Self-development counts as one word!)
